Granny Square Triangle Top Crochet Pattern

This is a Beginner level pattern and can definitely be your first project if you have never crocheted before, no worries!





Beginner Level. This crochet project takes a few hours to complete.


Supplies


  • Hook size: 4.5mm hook

  • Any weight 4 yarn - I used Sugar and Cream 100% Cotton - https://amzn.to/3IBlAqp

  • Scissors

  • Crochet Needle

  • Something to Measure (ruler/fabric measure)


Stitches Used

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet


Pattern Starts Here

Start by making 5 granny squares.

How to make the Granny Square:

Row 1: magic ring, ch3, dc2, ch1, *dc3, ch1* repeat ** 2 more times, sl st into the first ch3, ch1 fasten off


Row 2: attach new color in a corner space (where you chained 1), ch3, (dc2, ch1, dc3) in the same space, (dc3, ch1, dc3) in the next 3 corner spaces, sl st into ch3 to end, ch1, fasten off


Row 3: attach new color in a corner space (where you chained 1), ch3, (dc2, ch1, dc3) in the same space, dc3 in the next space, *(dc3, ch1, dc3) in the next corner space, 3dc in the side space* repeat until you finish the last side space, sl st into ch3 to end, ch1, fasten off


Row 4: attach new color in a corner space (where you chained 1), ch3, (dc2, ch1, dc3) in the same space, dc3 in the next 2 spaces, *(dc3, ch1, dc3) in the next corner space, 3dc in the next 2 side spaces* repeat until you finish the last side space, sl st into ch3 to end, ch1, fasten off


Row 5: attach new color in a corner space (where you chained 1), ch3, (dc2, ch1, dc3) in the same space, dc3 in the next 3 spaces, *(dc3, ch1, dc3) in the next corner space, 3dc in the next 3 side spaces* repeat until you finish the last side space, sl st into ch3 to end, don't fasten off


Row 6:  ch3, (dc3, ch1, dc3) in the same space, dc3 in the next 4 spaces, *(dc3, ch1, dc3) in the next corner space, 3dc in the next 4 side spaces* repeat until you get to the last side space and only place 2dc in that space, sl st into ch3 to end, fasten off


How to Attach the squares:

Lay squares right side down in this formation

Add the outline Row:

place 3dc clusters along the outside of your garment (the red lines on the picture)


Add the outline Row:

Chain 70 for each strap, 4 straps total (see photo above for where to place straps)


How to make the Tassels:

Each tassel is 2 strands of 12inch strands of yarn. Please watch video tutorial to see how to tie the tassels.

Place Tassel in every space between dc clusters (the blue lines on the photo above
